Realtek Receives Outstanding IT Elite and Product Awards for 2004


Hsinchu, Taiwan – October 27, 2004 – Realtek Semiconductor Corp. today announced that it has received the 2004 "Outstanding IT Elite" and "Outstanding IT Applications/Products" awards from the committee for the Taiwan Information Technology Month (sponsored by Taipei Computer Association). Representing the IT industry's highest honor and recognition, the elite and product awards respectively went to Realtek's Luke Huang, Director of Product Development Division I, and Realtek IEEE 802.11a/b/g Dual-Band Triple-Mode WLAN Solutions, the RTL8185L, RTL8187L, RTL8225, RTL8255, RTL8186, and RTL8650B/8651B.

Mr. Huang, directing Realtek's Product Development Division I, has successfully led development of high-efficiency communications network solutions, including Realtek 10/100M & Gigabit Ethernet Single-Chip Controllers, and the awarded Realtek Dual-Band Triple-Mode WLAN Chipsets and Access Point/Gateway SoC. For these achievements, Mr. Huang won the Outstanding IT Elite laurels.

Covering 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, the Realtek Dual-Band Triple-Mode WLAN Chipsets, Asia's first (world's third) total solution for IEEE 802.11a/b/g wireless networking, are of all-CMOS design. Featuring compact package size, low power consumption, and economies of scale, the CMOS manufacturing process provides an excellent solution for future WLAN single-chip integration. Realtek WLAN chipset reference designs have passed the Wi-Fi Alliance's WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2) security test and been selected as part of the WPA2 test bed for interoperable security certification.
